Is being a great hairdresser enough?

Of course, to be a great hairdresser, you need to be great at doing hair. But is that enough to bring you the upmost success? We think there’s more to it than that!

Find your identity

Being exceptional at your job just simply isn’t enough anymore. We think the secret to success is finding your identity. It’s also a fab way to discover some of the rewards of a career in hairdressing. For example, Kerry Anderson – owner of Brave, Strong Beautiful salon has gone down the road of supporting vulnerable young adults and getting them into hairdressing.

Brave, Strong, Beautiful

This week Kerry Anderson opened the doors to her second salon, allowing her to further her mission: to invest in the future of young people in Scotland, providing training opportunities, employment, and mental health support. Brave, Strong, Beautiful has been a Community Interest Company (CIC) since 2019; helping vulnerable young adults from Edinburgh interested in the hair and beauty industry, by offering them an alternative, inspiring and accessible route to training and employment.

Kerry has worked hard to build a reputation for supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to thrive, while offering a first-class range of hair and beauty treatments, woven with a welcoming and warm salon environment. Brave, Strong, Beautiful is a not-for-profit organisation and relied on funding and money raised through the salons to support their social enterprise and mission.

And on top of all of this work…  Kerry is an exceptional hairdresser!
