Colour trends using extensions

When clients get to the chair and ask for trendy hair looks, extensions are a great way to play with colour, especially for blondes.

Extensions are a way to avoid hair damage and long maintenance treatments– something most clients want to hear when it comes to keeping hair healthy.

What are colour trends now?

  • Golden blonde with a soft copper edge: the updated version of strawberry blonde. Lighter, more luminous and wearable with that subtle warmth.
  • Invisible lowlights: perfect for blondes waiting to soften their colour without high contrast. Subtle depth, texture and more lived-in finish for deeper bases.
  • Chocolate copper: a softer evolution of cowboy copper. Adds warmth and glow but dialled down into a chocolate base for a more subtle, polished finish without feeling too bold.
  • Dark, glossy smoky brown: the ultimate statement shade. Rich, refined and undeniably expensive-looking. Depth, high-shine, glass-like finish that elevates brunette into something truly polished and luxe.

Cutting and styling trends

Hair health is still leading the conversation. Clients are leaning towards stronger, shinier, better quality hair over high-maintenance styling or colour.

More clients are experiencing hair loss and thinning, and the demand for preventative and restorative care is growing.

When addressing this delicate topic, the key is to understand the hair life cycle.

It starts with understanding the cause of hair loss and assessing areas with lower density. Furthermore, create a strategy according to the client’s needs with different applications: bonded extensions, tape extensions, clip-ins.

Clip-in fillings are a great ally for those clients who are prioritising condition, bond-building treatments, and low-damage techniques that don’t risk hair integrity.

Naturally, the front area of the hair is more sensitive to hair loss and damage which is why there’s more density at the back than through the sides. Clip-in extensions create space to experiment with visual effects and face framing. Allowing you to add colour and volume.

Having this in mind, Curated is focusing on building volume in this area through new extension technology. You can explore the full range here.

First approachment to hair extensions?

Some clients could feel that hair extensions are like a space they’re unsure about, this is a great opportunity for stylists to bridge that gap in understanding. Brands like Curated are just making it simpler.

  • Clip-in fillings: a hybrid between a wig and a clip-in, designed to add lightweight and undetectable volume.
  • 100% real human hair: sourced from the south of India, specially curated by its rich and unique texture.
  • Maintenance: simple, often easier than caring for natural hair. Heat protection, and one wash a week recommended to avoid product build-up and to remove the oil from the natural roots that could stick around.

Extensions aren’t just an add-on anymore. They’ve become a tool within a wider strategy. Shaping colour, building volume, and delivering results that clients not only want, but can actually maintain. And ultimately, it’show they’re used is what sets the result apart
