Go green

It’s time to go green. Your clients want you to. Your team wants you to. The planet needs you to do it!

Take action

Specifically for hair salons, the Green Bible  – produced by Green Salon Collective – shows you how to make your salon less wasteful and more sustainable, without the need for extra costs. Download your FREE sample of the Green Bible for salons HERE

Green Salon Collective; go greenThis enforced closure in the UK is an opportunity to reflect on the way we practice hairdressing and run our salons, and crucially to be more thoughtful about our waste management, conservation of energy and regard for the planet. You can be different, and you can make a difference

Be the difference you want to see

Consumers are asking for you to reflect their values in your salon. Did you know that hair, excess colour, used metal tubes and foils, paper coffee cup and even HAIR can all be recycled or repurposed? Green Salon Collective is a company specifically focussed on helping hairdressing salons to be more mindful, better at waste management and saving the planet. It’s that simple. It’s so important.

certificate from Green Salon CollectiveShockingly, while seeming to sort out recycling, most waste collections in most council boroughs can’t cope with mixed recycling, or what they call contaminated waste, eg used colour tubes and foils. So it all goes to landfill. Green Salon Collective (GSC) sends its members dedicated bins for various products from hair to paper, to metal to glass, and arranges collection and refill bags wherever you are. For a single fee, you can have your waste organised, collected and recycled. GSC will count your contribution to sustainability and deliver quarterly reports you can share with clients.

The solution is a green, circular economy. When GSC deal with your waste, it thinks ‘how can we re-use, re-purpose or recycle this waste into an item or scenario that will benefit the industry, the environment or the community?’ This way they create a circular economy.

Green Salon Collective

Founded by environmental experts, hairdressers and eco-campaigners, GSC is the authority on salon sustainability throughout the UK and Ireland. It was launched in July 2020 and is already partnered with more than 250 salon owners and major brands including L’Oréal PPD, Kevin.Murphy, Wella Professionals, Paul Mitchell, Way, Natulique, Foil Me, and Eco-towels. Quite a line-up to join, eh?

Adam Reed Green Libertine“GSC has been a revelation to me, my team and our clients. I’m hugely passionate about sustainability as an individual, but GSC has opened my eyes to how we can create a sustainable industry. The journey and knowledge have been incredible and a positive force for my business.” Adam Reed

Salon benefits

GSC offers a simple system, free education, daily collections, free events and marketing collateral to get the word out there to your local community. You have your waste totals weighed and tracked. Member salons charge their clients a £1 green fee to offset the costs – there is plenty of support on how to implement this.
