Mr Chairman

Firstly, congratulations to Barry Stephens who has been appointed Chair of the Fellowship and Andreas Stavrou as Vice-Chair. Together, Barry and Andreas bring a wealth of experience from within hairdressing and the wider world of technology. They join President Ken Picton, Chancellor Ashleigh Hodges, and the Fellowship Council in their mission to continue the Fellowship’s drive towards being fully inclusive and accessible as it looks towards its 75th anniversary in 2021. Can I have a whoop, whoop!

Project: Men

The Fellowship’s men’s hairdressing mentoring scheme, PROJECT: Men is looking to recruit three new members. Led by award-winning hairdresser and session stylist, Jonathan Andrew, the scheme provides a 12-month program of education, mentoring and opportunities for those interested in developing and improving their skills with men’s hair.

To apply for one of the three places available, applicants should fill out the form available at www.fellowshiphair.com and send three images of their men’s hair work. The closing date for entries is midday on Thursday 24 September 2020.

The Sassoon Scholarship is open for entry!

The 2020 Sassoon Scholarship is now open for entry, with a new online element providing increased accessibility. One lucky recipient will now be given the opportunity to choose two in-person Sassoon Academy courses, as well as two online Sassoon Academy courses. The winner will also receive a professional tool kit and can claim up to £50 per day towards travel and accommodation costs, courtesy of Denman International. On top of that, the Scholarship recipient will also receive PR profiling through the Fellowship.

To apply, hairdressers need to fill out a form on the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s website, outlining their career achievements to date and explaining why they think they deserve this incredible opportunity. The closing date for entries is Friday 18th September. After this date, 12 candidates will be interviewed online, with a shortlist announced on Friday 25th September.

Fellowship Image AwardsFellowship Image Awards

The Fellowship Image Awards are back with five categories for 2020. Here’s they are…

The Lockdown Look: a one-off category for 2020, giving members the opportunity to show off the work they created in lockdown on a mannequin head, family member – or whoever else they were stuck at home with!

  • To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshiplockdownlook

The Snapshot Competition: back for its second year, this category is for any non-professional image of hair – looks created for live shows, clients or any other non-studio work. Owing to the lack of live events this year, any previous work can be entered for this category.

The Image of the Year: this category is for professional photoshoots. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It’s OK if they have been entered in any other competition.

  • To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipimage20

The Colour Image of the Year: a brand new category for professional photoshoots with a focus on colour. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It’s OK if they have been entered in any other competition.

  • To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipcolourimage20.

Men’s Image of the Year: another new category, this time for professional photoshoots with a focus on men’s hair. Members can submit three images, of any type of hair, created any time and shot professionally. It’s OK if they have been entered in any other competition.

  • To enter, tag @fellowshiphair in your photo on Instagram, and use the tag #fellowshipmensimage20.

The closing date for entries in all categories is 5pm, Wednesday 30th September 2020.
