The Importance of Customer Service

Tom O’Brien

Working in the hair industry is about so much more than just the hair, its about building client relationships and providing a high standard of customer service. Someone who knows all about this is Tom O’Brien, hair director of Baroque salon, who told us customer service can make or break your salon. Tom finds that creating lasting and trusting relationships with clients is crucial – and we couldn’t agree more. Clients put their hair in your hands so trust is essential.
Tom says: “We earn client confidence through delivering the very best in hairdressing standards. We want our clients to enjoy a wonderful overall salon experience that feels more like visiting a friend than just attending a hair appointment”. Well said, Tom!
Your standard of service should begin as soon as the client walks through your salon doors into a relaxing, welcoming environment. We all know the hairdressing industry is client-facing so having care, compassion and understanding from your team is vital. It’s important that exceptional customer service is carried out by all staff members, too, as one negative experience can reflect badly on the whole salon.
Tom suggests asking your clients to review their hair service and overall  experience via email and social media after a visit to your salon. We think encouraging clients to post selfies to show how happy they are with their hair is great social exposure while also encouraging staff to constantly deliver their best.
So there you have it, the importance of customer service in salons…. Now ask yourself, does your salon practice the above?
