Best of The BRITs

Celebrity glam squads were on fire Tuesday evening as they dolled up some of the music industry’s top icons for the 2022 BRIT Awards. Our jaws were dropping as we saw the incredible (with the odd questionable) celeb styles coming down the red carpet.

We got some opinions from the professionals on our favourite looks.

Adele

She is a queen! Adele always gets it right and BRITS was no exception. We ended up losing count of how many awards she took home – but that may have been because we were distracted by the big shiny rock on her left hand

ALFAPRAF Milano Creative Ambassador, Luke Benson is a big fan of Adele’s classic red carpet style. “Adele is championing glamourous, bouncy, beautiful hair at the moment and last night it looked great again. Effortless beauty is always a winner. Adele does it so well and I’m so glad she is staying with this vibe.”

Holly Humberstone

How does she make the grunge vibe look chic? Holly was certainly one to watch at BRITS. We loved how she effortlessly looked phenomenal.

ALFAPARF Milano Creative Ambassador Luke Benson’s agreed, he commented: “Holly Humberstone perfected that cool girl grunge, with a flatter root area with strong parting and textured waves. An effortlessly cool finish that suited her perfectly.”

While Gavin McIntyre, Director at G&E McIntyre’s, Northampton commented: “I noticed a lot of hair falling away or pulled away from the face, clean, polished finishes or natural texture. The textures of the hair and flowing movements all compliment the overall look expertly, particularly Holly Humberstone, the braiding is really bringing the texture of the lace together and the free-flowing wave is mirroring the flicks of the fringing on the sleeves. With all outfits having statement shapes and textures, the hair looks chosen are perfectly chosen to compliment the cuts of the outfit, not distracting from the standout elements the look is supposed to have.”

Lennon Gallagher

Let’s not forget about the men. Lennon Gallagher was another favourite at BRITS. Although we couldn’t help feeling a little nostalgic – it felt like we were looking at Liam back in his Oasis days.

Harness & Mane (Walthamstow) Director, Gunel Kelly, “I love Lennon Gallagher’s style because it’s moody and while dishevelled it just looks good. A good haircut is key to achieving this look. I’d style by prepping the hair with pureology clean volume spray all over. Rough dry at the root the opposite direction to natural fall. This will give volume and movement. Curl the ends with straighteners if there are fluffy flyaways. Finish it up with Redken Powder grip to show off the look and add hold without making hair look greasy with a wax. Another strong male look was Tom Grennan, like with Lennon he has a great haircut, strong visible graduation on the sides. I’d style his curls with Redken’s ringlet with a few drops of olaplex bonding oil 7 for extra definition and shine. Assess the level of fluffiness to the curl after it’s been diffused and curl the ends with tongs if needed. Shine spray all over.”

Maya Jama

Maya Jama looked insane. Her Cher inspired look, with hair that looked as if it had no end whilst glistening with a perfect shine.

Gunel said: “Maya Jama definitely topped it for the women, her Cher inspired look, it’s got that glass like shine and is gorgeous, especially on a mane like hers! I’d achieve this look by prepping the hair with Redken’s One United first then do a good old proper straight blow dry from wet. Then seal with straighteners. Don’t blag the blow dry. A lot of hairdressers just rely on straighteners too much. Finish it if with Olaplex 7 bonding oil for added shine and flow to the ends.”

Griff

Yes to Griff’s hair stencilling at BRITS. We love to see it. Not your average red carpet hair-do which is why it caught our eye.

Jason said: “The looks at this year’s Brit Awards were a little underwhelming for me, but personally I loved Griff’s style. Her use of hair stencilling was quite a bold look and really stood out. Hair stencilling is going to be a big trend for 2022, we’ve seen it on celebrities and TikTok already so it’s great to see this trend filter down to the red carpet. I love how it matched her dress and really complimented her overall look.”

We could keep on going… Becky Hill and Vicky McClure also caught our eye; but we’re going to leave it there. Although, we can’t leave without mentioning Anne-Marie’s sleek straight pony, and the slight tumble she took on stage. What a hero for carrying on the way she did. Only true icons have stage mishaps at The BRITS #MadonnaMoment.
