Allilon collaborates with A Song For You

Earlier this month we went to Berlin with Davines for their World Wide Hair Tour. We were immersed in hair shows for two days, with each hair team presenting something completley different – keeping the audience well and truly engaged.

A stand-out show for us was from the world-renowned Allilon team. We saw something quite different as they put on an incredible spectacle blending beauty, dance, and music. Disrupting the traditional hair show format, they collaborated with ‘A Song For You’, a local Berlin choir centering BIPOC voices, to present sensational sounds and visuals and tell a story of rejection, awareness and inclusion.

The real message in Allilon’s project is about the hair industry being more educated on all hair types.

“We needed to create as much cohesion as possible with the artists, and as hairdressers we were given the responsilbilty and trust to create a look that was bespoke to them. We did online consultations – with them in Berlin and us in London – and got to know through provoking questions. We wanted to dig a liittle more deep about their personal hair journeys and experiences. We noticed a common thread between all of them, within their childhoods they struggled with their hair identity. Similar way that every child struggles with wanting to fit in, but with this group being BIPOC it was on a deeper level.” Says Pedro Inchenko

A Song For You

A song for you are a group of talented people from the BIPOC community who are creative in so many realms. One area to lean into was video productions. Get as far away from hair creatives and have other artists give their approach a chance to influence.

The group were given a brief and Allilon let them run with it. “It was hard to take backseat but I also loved it and have been excited to share this with everyone,” Pedro adds.
