90’s Tendrill’s Are Back

Remember in the 90’s when we used to pull tendrils around our face? They’re back! Whether they’re back for goodΒ (couldn’t resist a cheesey 90’s boyband pun there) or just for SS20, we will soon see.

We’ve spotted celeb icons Dua Lipa, Margot Robbie, Pixie Lott and Scarlet Johansson rocking the modern day tendrils on the red carpet. A quick and easy tactic to transform your hairstyle.

TONI&GUY international artistic director, Philipp Haug said: β€œA tendril is ideal for softening any updo. Hair pulled off the face can look severe and strong, but adding some tendrils round the face gives it a soft and feminine finish. And the great thing is, it suits everyone. The key to making it modern is to leave a good amount of hair out – you want it to make a statement rather than be wispy. A soft wave or kink is also important so it doesn’t look like curtains and appears to be part of the overall look.”

  1. Wear them with a centre parting to for a strong look (and symmetry).
  2. For a softer look, move the parting to the side.
  3. A simple spritz of hairspray is enough. Don’t overload with products otherwise it will look crunchy and dated.
  4. Tendrils can be dressed up or down.
