Ahead of Rainbow Room International being the stylists to the stars at this year’s TRNSMT festival, we caught up with Salon Director at Rainbow Room International Uddingston, Diana Carson, to get to get her take on the bold festival hairstyles she predicts will trend this year…

Voluminous spiral curls
This year it’s all about big, voluminous, spiral curls. This is a particularly great look for those who with curly hair types and that want to further enhance their curl pattern. Curl products can be used to define the curls alongside a diffuser to enhance curl definition and volume whilst avoiding frizz. To further enhance this style, clients can also experiment with added twist buns at the front of the face for added drama.
Edgy pixie cuts with slicked down fringes
For clients feeling adventurous and looking for a haircut change, a pixie cut is a super cool festival hair look and perfect for those looking to express their personality and individuality. The cut can then be given a fun festival finish by incorporating a slicked down fringe or by styling the hair wet to give it a more whimsical appearance.
Fascinating braids
Braids are always a standout style for festivals, however, for 2025 we will see braids turning up a notch, incorporating accessories such as colourful clips and beads, diamantes, feather details and pieces of rope to give the style a quirky and playful finish. For 2025 braids will go from having a very bohemian look to a more futuristic, avant-garde feel and will allow festivalgoers to really make a statement with their hair.
Colour panelling
Clients love to experiment with colour for festivals and regularly look for temporary hair colour solutions to give their hair an instant colour pop that can be washed out. For 2025 a key colour trend for festivals will be colour panelling, where clients can pop into the salon to have a panel or panels of hair colour carefully placed on their original base colour to give their hair a funky pop of colour. This results in creating a block-like pattern on the hair that’s super striking. This can also be placed as a hidden hair colour panel that’s only shown when the hair is styled a certain way. For example, when worn up or styled super sleek allowing the panel to really pop.
