Get your salon ready for Autumn

Salon manager software on a computer screen. Orange autumn background

The summer season is always incredibly busy in salons with clients booking all their hair and beauty appointments ahead of their summer events such as the races, festivals, weddings and of course, for summer holidays. Transitioning into autumn in September/October can be a quieter time in the salon ahead of the hectic Christmas rush in November/December but there are procedures salons can put into place to ensure steady footfall comes in through the new season…

Loyalty programs and referral incentives

Loyalty programs are a great way to reward your clients and ensure they come in for regular visits. Referral incentives will encourage your current clients to refer your salon to their friends/family members and gain new clients through the door. If you have multiple salons, it’s a good idea to allow for cross-promotions and loyalty programs across multiple locations to attract and retain customers.

Seasonal promotions/packages

The new season is a great time to put together new seasonal promotions/packages to attract not only new clients into the salon, but loyal clients too. Think about seasonal hair colour menus and packages combining hair treatments to revive hair from the effects of the summer months going into autumn. Beauty treatment packages that allow clients to come in from the cold for some much needed pamper time are always a huge hit, combining services such as peels and facials to help give clients skin an autumn ‘pick me up’ and to add hydration back into the skin following the summer months. Once the promotions/packages are created, they can then be advertised on your social media channels, website and via your marketing to ensure they reach all clients effectively.

Amplify your marketing

We often push marketing during the summer months to promote new products we have on offer for summer and any summer packages we have available. Marketing should not be pushed to the side in the autumn months and instead should be used more so to encourage clients to visit when the salon is quieter. Newsletter campaigns are a great way to advertise any appointment gaps you may have in the salon that you are looking to fill but can also be used to shout about your seasonal promotions/packages and to keep in contact with clients, ensuring communication is consistent and to keep your salon fresh in their minds for when they’re ready to book their next appointments. Newsletters don’t just need to include information on seasonal promotions/packages but can also share information on seasonal trends e.g. autumn hair colour trend predictions and autumn nail inspiration and what services you have in the salon to help achieve those trends. Clients love to read these types of newsletters to get inspired for their next appointment.

Maximise your online presence

This includes ensuring your website is easy to access and navigate through mobile phone and that clients can easily book appointments in just a few clicks online across all devices – computer, laptop, iPad and phone. Remember, your website works as your second salon window and should look presentable and engaging to help attract new clients into your salon. Including a ‘Book Now’ button on your website is also advantageous to encourage clients to book in.

Use social media

Being active on social media is a great way for salons to engage with a wider audience and shout about your salon services, including any promotions/packages you may have to offer. Social media can also be used to help with marketing, whereby you can create tailored ads to the audience you want to attract shouting about your services and promotions. Always use high quality graphics/images/videos on your social media platforms and ensure you have an easy to access booking link in your bio for clients to book an appointment in just a few clicks. Try to also encourage your loyal clients to share reviews of their experience in the salon on your social media pages, as many new clients will look at reviews when searching for a new salon to visit. Having 5* reviews will help you to stand out from your competitors.

Salon Manager can help your salon with all the above features, ensuring your business runs more seamlessly over the autumn months. For further information on Salon Manager’s full list of features and to book a demo, click HERE
