At Fusion Hair Co., salon owner and textured hair specialist Chris Grimley is driving a cultural shift in British hairdressing by embedding textured hair education into the foundation of training from day one.
For too long, the industry has treated textured hair as a speciality, often introducing it late, if at all. Through her work at Fusion Co. and the Textured Curl Academy, Chris is challenging the status quo and initiating change from the ground up.
Chris has made it her mission to ensure that every member of her team learns how to approach all hair types with the same level of competence and care. “We teach texture from day one,” she says. “It’s not a bolt-on. It’s part of being a professional.”

Ruby Watson
Ruby Watson started her career at Fusion Hair Co. at 16 and is now a senior stylist known for her advanced skills and confidence in working with all hair textures. Her standout achievements include assisting on an award-winning Afro Hair & Beauty Contest entry, taking the stage at industry events like How to Cut It, and contributing to shoots for the Good Salon Guide. Thanks to inclusive education and mentorship from Chris, Ruby has built a strong client base and rising industry profile, proving the power of nurturing young, diverse talent.

Sienna Gibbens
Sienna Gibbins left college in search of hands-on experience and found it at Fusion Hair Co., where she’s thrived under Chris’s mentorship. In just two years, she’s completed her apprenticeship with distinction, won Apprentice of the Year, and built a loyal client base. Known for her technical skill and professionalism, Sienna specialises in services from balayage to curly cuts. Passionate about making textured hair a standard part of professional training, she’s now focused on advanced education and hopes to one day mentor others, just as she was supported early on.

Jessica Kelly
Second-year apprentice Jessica Kelly has embraced every opportunity at Fusion Hair Co., progressing from observer to active stylist. With all her theory exams complete, she’s now refining practical skills like foiling, perming, and keratin treatments—often taught at a higher level. Jessica thrives in a supportive, education-driven environment and is passionate about making textured hair care more inclusive. As she nears the end of her apprenticeship, her focus remains on continual growth and becoming a confident, well-rounded stylist ready to make a difference.
Raising the bar
Through her vision and commitment, Chris is proving that inclusive hair education shouldn’t be an optional extra or an afterthought. By teaching texture as a fundamental skill from day one, she is empowering a new generation of stylists to serve every client with skill, confidence, and respect. In doing so, Fusion Hair Co. and the Textured Curl Academy are not just changing the conversation; they’re setting a new standard for true inclusivity in the industry.
