Tracey Ann Smith: Caring for your curls

Under the leadership of Creative Director Tracey Ann Smith, MOOD has introduced an innovative way to care for curls during the summer months. As temperatures rise, heat and humidity can negatively impact curl definition, reduce manageability, and increase frizz, making effective curl care a necessity.

In response to this seasonal demand, MOOD has launched Dream Curls, a three-step system designed to hydrate, strengthen, and define curls without adding weight. The system is powered by fermented rice water and expert formulation science.

Leading this new chapter is Tracey, MOOD’s newly appointed Creative Director. With eight British Hairdressing Awards and decades of salon and session experience, Tracey brings a strategic, future-focused vision to the brand.

“Curls are often the first to suffer in heat and humidity,” says Tracey. “They lose structure, they frizz, and they flatten. Dream Curls offers a solution that restores the hair’s natural balance, soft but defined, structured yet flexible.”

Dream Curls offers a clear, performance-led approach to curly and frizz-prone hair. Each product in the trio is powered by fermented rice water, a naturally derived active rich in amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins. This ingredient has been shown to boost elasticity, smooth the cuticle, and enhance overall hair strength, making it ideal for curls under environmental stress.

Step 1: Dream Curls Shampoo

Dream Curls Shampoo has a sulphate-free formula that effectively removes buildup while preserving essential moisture in the hair. It leaves curls soft, hydrated, and easier to detangle, which is particularly important during the summer months when hair can become dry or brittle.

“What is special about Dream Curls Shampoo is that it doesn’t just clean the hair, it also protects the hair’s internal structure, giving it the flexibility it needs. You want bounce, not breakage, and Dream Curls Shampoo provides the foundation for that.

Step 2: Dream Curls Mask

A deeply conditioning treatment that restores volume and definition while smoothing frizz. The Dream Curls Mask improves manageability, adds softness, and supports a healthy curl pattern from root to tip.

“The Dream Curl Mask has the potential to be a real hero product”, explains Tracey “With the mask, you are essentially bringing the curl back to life; it softens without slackening the structure and restores the hair’s elasticity and volume”.

Step 3: Dream Curls Revitalising Spray

Dream Curls Revitalising Spray is an ultra-lightweight leave-in mist designed to refresh and protect your curls. It is perfect for use between washes, providing hydration, redefining your curl shape, and serving as a humidity shield, essential for keeping curls intact in hot or humid conditions.

“The Revitalising Spray is a fantastic go-to product during warm weather,” says Tracey. “It quickly refreshes curls, and you get instant shape recovery without any heaviness.”

Mood also addresses the increasing demand for clean, sustainable products. Dream Curls is cruelty-free, ethically formulated, and packaged with minimal environmental impact, aligning with Moods’ broader sustainability commitments.

“There is a demand for effective solutions,” explains Tracey “With Dream Curls, we’ve developed a seasonal and purposeful product; it really is a must-have for anyone with curly, frizz-prone hair during the summer.”

As summer humidity peaks, clients are turning to stylists for advice and long-lasting results. Dream Curls offers a smart, salon-quality solution designed to enhance natural texture throughout the most challenging months, combining ingredient-focused care with practical styling support.
