Marlon Hawkins named International Hairdresser of the Year

Huge congrats to Brooks & Brooks’ very own artistic director, Marlon Hawkins, who’s just been crowned International Hairdresser of the Year at the 2025 AHIA Creative Awards – the biggest celebration of hair talent across Australia and New Zealand!

The glitzy ceremony took place at The Star Sydney Event Centre, where Marlon took to the stage in front of a buzzing international crowd of hair pros from across the globe.

So, what won the judges over? Marlon’s fresh, fearless approach to hair artistry. With an unwavering passion for creativity and deep respect for the craft, Marlon dedicates himself to inspiring and mentoring the next generation of hairdressers, sharing opportunities and platforms with those he develops alongside his own evolving career.

His expertise spans the full spectrum of hair artistry, from avant-garde creations and precision cutting to innovative colouring, editorial styling, and everything in between. Constantly travelling the globe for shows, shoots, seminars, masterclasses, campaigns, and product development, Marlon represents his generation within the hairdressing world, understanding the different roles a hairdresser must embrace while always focusing on the limitless creative possibilities that hair presents as an artistic medium.

The AHIA Creative event marked not only the fifth year of this prestigious awards platform, but also a phenomenal 20 years of creators, Mocha Group, as a leading force in media, awards and events across the hair, beauty and barber industries. From the most established icons to the brightest new stars, the evening truly celebrated the full spectrum of hairdressing artistry.

Marlon said: “It is an incredible honour to be named International Hairdresser of the Year. Promoting the craft of hairdressing and raising standards of skills and knowledge is really important to me and inspiring the next generation of hairdressers around the world.

Linda Woodhead, Founder of Mocha Group, reflected on Marlon’s win;”We are incredibly proud of Marlon and his outstanding achievement. As our key international winner, he now joins our prestigious group of industry ambassadors who represent the highest standards of professionalism and innovation in hairdressing.
