With our industry evolving rapidly, fostering a culture of positivity, our mental well-being, and growth for 2025 is more important than ever. When people ask why this matters, Louis Byrne for L’Oreal Professionel and creator of I Can, I Am and I Will, answer is clear: it all begins with the individual. Leading by example from the top down empowers everyone in the organisation. “Whether you’re a business owner, salon manager, stylist, technician, or assistant, we’re all in a consumer-facing role. I truly believe we attract the energy we project into our workplaces and the world,” Louis says.
L’Oréal Professionnel Head Up mental fitness programme is a quick series for hair pros offering guidance and tips on mental fitness with topics relating to setting boundaries with clients and co-workers, stress, anxiety, depression and burnout. The short videos are perfect to integrate within your day to day by watching an episode on your commute, lunch break or even to unwind from a busy day. Head Up videos can be found on Access, L’Oréal YouTube UKI and L’Oréal Professionnel Head Up website.
Louis’ tips for mental well-being in 2025
1 It’s vital to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to go.
2 Fear and anxiety can take over our thoughts, holding us back. Developing positive routines, recognising our emotions, and understanding how we’re fuelling ourselves can help us operate with clarity and purpose, enabling real growth.
3 Being seen and heard builds self-esteem and confidence.
4 We have a unique opportunity to shape our futures, but it takes honesty, commitment, and positive habits. That’s why I’m a firm believer in doing a life and career audit – a reset. I developed the ICIAIW tools for reflection, a wellbeing and manifestation journal, and a digital rest program for this purpose. I believe these practices can transform our industry in a positive direction, but it has to start with you.
5 Salon owners have an incredible opportunity to offer practical tools and solutions that genuinely support their teams and clients. Imagine giving your team an unforgettable experience – a chance to reset, refresh, and rejuvenate. There are many things salon owners can do for their team members.
For 2025, I’m excited to offer growth and well-being workshops and masterclasses through I Can I Am and I Will. These sessions are designed to equip you with everything you need to take control of your direction, thoughts, and energy, fostering a unified, empowered community and strong individual growth.
What’s unique about my approach is that these tools are also transferable to your clients, enhancing their experience and connection to the salon. If you’d like to learn more about The Common People Experience—my empowering 2025 program—please reach out for details and availability.
I believe deeply in people and in the beauty of the hairdressing industry. While it feels a bit lost at the moment, the power we hold in building community, self-esteem, and confidence is endless. Together, we can reshape our businesses with the power of a growth mindset and the guiding principle of I Can I Am and I Will. It’s time to learn, grow, and help others along the way.
Educate, Motivate, and Inspire with I Can I Am and I Will—Own it, Live it, Be it.“
