Known for her client-first approach and effortlessly wearable hair, Elle Foreman has built a loyal following. As stylist and co-owner of Tribe Salons in Clapham Common, Elle has spent years refining her craft through ongoing education, dedication and close collaboration with her team. Passionate about delivering the very best experience both in and out of the chair, Elle says: “If I’m going to do this job I want to be the very best I can be for my clients, my team and myself.”

Elle’s five top tips for achieving excellence behind the chair
1. Own the experience, not just the hair
Being a great stylist goes beyond technical results. How a client feels during and after the appointment matters just as much as the hair itself. Ensuring the client feels listened to, understood, and confident in the plan you have for their hair builds trust, and trust is what keeps clients coming back.
2. Continue to raise your standards
The strongest stylists continue to learn. Ongoing training, assisting others, entering competitions, and exposure to different environments can push your standards higher. Learning from mentors who have already walked the path you want to follow also gives clarity, perspective and helps you progress faster.

3. Put suitability and hair health before trends
Trends come and go, but the best hair comes from creating something that truly suits the client. Considering lifestyle, personality, and individuality leads to results that feel authentic and wearable. Healthy hair is the foundation; without it, nothing works long term.
4. Teach others to become better at your craft
Teaching others forces you to understand how and why you do what you do. Sharing knowledge, mentoring assistants, and breaking down your approach sharpens your own skills and raises standards across the team.
5. Consistency builds successful careers
Talent will only get you so far. Consistency creates a strong foundation for long-term success. High standards, preparation, and care deliver results that last. Doing the small things well, every day, leads to big results over time.
