Eight ways a positive mindset can grow your career

Do you ever feel like your career is just staying stagnant? Award-winning hairdresser Chelsea Caulton knows the feeling – maybe a little too well. “I felt like I wasn’t being able to reach any of my goals. All I seemed to be doing was salon-hopping.” Chelsea tells us in an exclusive interview.

It was time for change so Chelsea began to put herself out there by reaching out to the hairdressers that inspired her. One day, she received a message back and someone was willing to help her…Cally Borg took Chelsea under her wing and her life started to change. With a positive workspace and a working alongside Cally who is also a business and mindset mentor, Chelsea’s luck began to change and she started to reach goals that she never believed she could.

Chelsea shares with us eight ways her career grew after changing her mindset.

Mentor

After a lot of DM’ing, I finally landed myself a full-time job which came with a mentorship programme. Cally helped me to progress within the hairdressing industry.

Award

After three months of working at “Cally Borg Hair”, I was entered for an award called ‘Future Talent of the year.’ This was the first award I ever received. I was pushed out of my comfort zone and my boss at the time said to me “you’re more than capable of winning this and you are ready!” And, I did it. It truly was one of the best days of my life.

Homeowner

I became a homeowner with my partner, Reece aged 25! This is such an achievement for my generation as we all know what the current housing market is like for first time buyers. This always felt so far away for me, but little did I know with hard work and determination I could have this (sooner than I expected too).

Podcast

I spoke on my first ever podcast – Respectfully – listen HERE!  I was so nervous on the day of my podcast that I thought “why do I put myself in these situations?” But, I can honestly say it was so much fun and I can’t wait to do many more of these. Maybe even host my own podcast one day. I was so grateful to be there.

Article

My journey so far has taught me I want to help others in any way that I can. So it was an honour to write my first ever article for a trade magazine about building confidence. Something that I struggled with at the start of my career.

LQFS

This opportunity aroused when I was invited by Harness and Mane, who I met on the podcast recording. I was invited to London Queer Fashion Show to take part and help the models get ready to walk down the catwalk. I had always wanted to take part and now I can finally say I did it. It was so much fun!

Invested in a business mentor

I invested in my very own business mentor. From all of the podcasts and books I have read on how to be successful the most important thing I have learnt is if you must take that step and invest in yourself and your dreams  to achieve your goal.

Started a business home salon

The Original Stylist – creating my personalised hairdressing business established in 2020. It was always on my mind to have my own business. However, for your business to be successful, it has to be the right time in your life and you have to be in the right mindset. I can finally say I am all here and my business is finally taking that leap. I am ready to open my quirky home salon and offer a personalised way of hairdressing!
