Pollock photoshoot with hair by Vicki Lord

photoshoot hair

Vicki Lord recently created the hair looks for an interesting photoshoot by creative director Jordan Martin. Inspired by artist Jackson Pollock’s vivid colours, Jordan’s shoot blurs the lines between art and fashion. To further this idea, Jordan arranged the set with splatters of colours reminiscent of Jackson Pollock’s masterpieces.

Tell us about the hair

As the session stylist, Vicki’s brief was to create a hair look that embraced the model’s spirit. The model posed as an artist painting. For the first stage of the shoot, Vicki created a short blonde wig for the model to wear while she painted.  Moving to a new shoot stage, the model removed the wig, revealing her natural hair. This shift is symbolic of how change happens throughout a creative journey.

Vicki then styled the model’s hair into a gel-sculpted top to echo the strokes on the canvas and nod towards the paint’s texture. This was to create the feeling that the hair had become an extension of the artwork. The transformation seamlessly blended the human form and the artist’s vision. The model had gone from being the painter to wearing the painting she created.

The short blonde wig and the sculpted gel style symbolised the journey of creation; from inspiration to realisation.
