This time of year is mental for awards – but we like it! Competitions throw up new names and encourage us to keep you all on your toes by sharing new work. Nicole Kae from Sydney scooped a top prize in the Hair Shots 2 The World Global competition 2019. Her collection Inca Rising really catches our imagination. She drew on traditional Peruvian culture and it’s rich kaleidoscope of colour and texture. Referencing Mario Testino’s capture of Lima in 2007, Nicole maintains “a pure presentation of the cultural dress to reveal texture and fabric as a direct visual guide” to her images.
