Inspired by the Japanese philosophy, Ikigai by Danilo Giangreco is a stunning collection. London-based hairdresser and salon owner (Danilo Hair Boutique), our man was inspired by the Japanese philosophy text which roughly translates to ‘reason for being’ or ‘a purpose in life’. This collection shows how inspiration for hair can come from a mood, a thought process, an ethos as much as it can from visual references.
Danilo Giangreco
We’ve been watching Italian-born Danilo for a decade or more, as he flourishes into a creative, dynamic leader. As well as being an award-winner in his own right, Danilo’s team includes Enrica Russo, the current holder of The Big One Trophy presented by Tribu-te Magazine.
For this latest collection, Danilo says: “Ikigai is the the intersection of a few important elements of life: What you love and what makes you happy, what you’re good at and what you can be paid for. The idea is that if you can find something that satisfies all these elements, you will find a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness. I explored this idea in my collection. Playing with hair while creating shapes and textures is what truly excites me.”
