BACK TO BASIC: HairGott apprentices put the fundamentals first

Strong hairdressing starts with strong foundations, and HairGott’s latest collection, BACK TO BASIC, puts that idea front and centre.

Created by four first-year apprentices, the collection strips hairdressing back to the essentials of the craft: clear shapes, natural textures and precision cuts

Each apprentice was given full creative responsibility for their own model, taking ownership of both the haircut and colour concept. Every shade was chosen and adapted to complement the cut, the model’s personality and the overall character of the finished look.

The photography followed the same stripped-back approach. Clothing and fashion elements were deliberately kept out of frame, keeping the focus firmly on the hair.

The result? See for yourself below…

Hymne Cut

Leyla is naturally confident, expressive and enjoys pushing a look creatively.

“For my look, I wanted to create something with real presence. The short fringe, the curls and the strong red colour were all part of that idea. I enjoy experimenting and I’m not afraid of making a look more expressive. Having my own model and being responsible for the complete concept was exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy.”

Graduated Bob with Short Fringe

Nuria is also very confident and feels completely at home in a creative environment and in front of the camera.

“I really like strong, clear shapes, so I wanted my look to be very precise and graphic. The graduated bob and short fringe needed to work perfectly together, and the colour had to support the shape rather than distract from it. I loved being able to take responsibility for the complete look and then see it come alive in front of the camera.”

Curls with Fringe and Golden Highlights

Nora is quieter by nature, but extremely precise and learns remarkably quickly.

“I tend to work very carefully and think about the details before I make a decision. With this look, I wanted to keep the natural movement of the curls while adding more dimension through the fringe and the golden highlights. Taking full responsibility for my own model was a big step for me, but I learned an incredible amount during the process.”

Layered Curly Cut with Red Accents

Bella’s look combines a layered curly shape with red accents designed to enhance movement and character.

“For me, the biggest part of this project was seeing how much I could develop when I was given real responsibility. I wanted the haircut to work with the natural curl pattern and create a strong shape, while the red accents added movement and character.”
