Global Zoom 2018 was a wow! Gathering nearly 3000 hairdressers in Toronto, Canada, this past weekend, Goldwell and KMS oversaw quite a fiesta of education, inspiration and competition. We tagged along with the UK team (numbering more than 240… impressive). Everyone was there to join the fun
A packed schedule
Rocking up to the first day Academy Sessions, we enjoyed fabulous showcases by the Master Design Team. Headed by global cutting ambassador Jay Mahmood (he’s a cool cutting cat), and Rodica Hristu on colour, the team presented a cut, styling and colour collection of on-trend looks. The KMS Style Council worked colour magic, too. They worked with the new Stylecolor temporary sprays to great effect. And we were reminded by the Goldwell @Pure Pigments team of how versatile this colour range is.
Elsewhere in the venue, competitors in the final of the Color Zoom 2018 challenge were hard at work. Each had won a national gold title in one of three categories (Creative Color, New Talent, and Partner) in order to compete in Toronto. As winners by dint of photography, their task now was to recreate in three hours on a live models their interpretation of the Elemental collection. For team UK, we cheered on Lydia Wolfe, Kasha Havis, and Stephanie Jones – girl power. Judging took place in the afternoon, subsequently the global winners announced at an evening gala show. Astonishingly, a small salon in the Netherlands scooped all three titles with a trio of beautifully-done looks. Bravo to Partners Hairstyling: New Talent category – Nushka Barbosa; Creative category – Roos Topley; and Partner category– Lieke Nijenkamp.
During the gala show, we were treated to an advance look at Goldwell’s new trends collection Remix which will be the inspiration for next years event. While imagery and education won’t be available until next Spring, we can share a sneak peek below:
AND finally, we were thrilled to see Brit Neil Barton join the Goldwell HALL OF FAME. Neil was admitted into the Hall of Fame on account of his win at Color Zoom in Paris, 2010 and for his continued work to mentor others within the Goldwell network. Huge congratulations Neil.
