Unite Hair x Diego Miranda

London Fashion Week was a blur of creativity, inspiration and eye-catching hair looks which we are still obsessing over. Luckily, we caught up with Diego Miranda who shares his brief and inspiration behind the hair looks for two Fashion Week shows: Junyang SS24 and Ju-nna SS24. Diego worked hard with the Unite Hair team, many of whom joined following the Runway Ready courses earlier this year. The looks were super-cool and fit perfectly with the clothes. It was fun to take a peek backstage and see all the magic unfold!

Junyang SS24 was truly beautiful, and the designer’s first-ever solo show. The hair for Junyang SS24 was loose, undone with lots of texture. We caught up with lead hair Diego Miranda backstage before the show started to get into the details…

What was the brief tonight?

Diego: The brief was to create something casual, loose and natural. The hair needed to flow, so it couldn’t be too tight. There is a lot of texture, with flyaways and static. The hair almost looks like it could have been done by the models themselves; it is a very organic look.

What was the biggest challenge?

Diego: The biggest challenge when you have 30 models, like tonight, is dealing with different hair lengths. You have to adapt the style. The original brief was to create very low, loose ponytails. But this didn’t work on short or mid-length hair. So, I had to improvise and create something more organic. We ended up creating something Marie Antoinette inspired, but way more distressed.

What was your go-to product for this look?

Diego: The go-to products were Unite Texturizer spray and the U:Dry Shampoo. These were the main products, mostly used for texture and grip. On some models we also used Unite Liquid Volume for extra texture.

Diego Miranda was also lead hair for Ju-nna SS24. Let’s unpack this gorgeous hair:

For the Ju-nna SS24 show, Diego and the Unite Hair team wanted to create a style which was sleek but textured to compliment the clothing. Hair was pulled back into one long, thick braid in the middle. The go-to products Diego and the Unite Hair team used to create this look include Unite Smooth & Shine and Expanda Volume. If you want to create something similar for clients, take Expanda Volume through the hair section by section for a sleek but textured look that doesn’t move!
