This year the 35th Alternative Hair Show was held at the Royal Albert Hall, raising money for Fighting Leukaemia, a charity founded by hairdresser Tony Rizzo after losing his small son to blood cancer. Since he founded Alternative Hair all those years ago, Tony has raised more than £12 Million for the charity which has been invested into research, training of nursing staff and support for families who have a child suffering from blood cancer. This year’s show raised a magnificent £280,626.00!
Utopia 35th Alternative Hair Show Founder
TIGI founder, Anthony Mascolo, is also the Global President of Alternative Hair and together with his wife Pat, sits on the board of trustees. Anthony’s own passion for the charity is deep and TIGI has supported the show each year through their sponsorship of the event and the TIGI Creative Team’s own presentation. TIGI presented five models, each styled individually to demonstrate power and status.
TIGI also sponsors the International Visionary Award (which is held at the AHS) a creative competition to find new global talent. In three categories: Cut & Colour, Mens and Avant-garde, 36 finalists travelled to London from as far afield as Taiwan, Australia and the USA to present their models at the Visionary Award Show. The 2017 Show was themed ‘UTOPIA’ and expressed the search for a place of perfection and equality. Each team showed their own interpretation of the theme.
