News added 20/07/18: Last week, 17 young finalists attended the TIGI Academy in London for a nerve-wracking selection process to choose the 2018 TIGI Inspirational Youth team. Each of the finalists was required to cut and colour a head-block under the watchful eyes of the TIGI Creative Team members. Nerve-wracking! They then presented their inspiration and finished work to a panel of judges including Anthony.
The decision has now been made and TIGI is proud to announce the 2018 TIGI Inspirational Youth Team: Amy Lynn from Bad Apple • Rebecca McKay from Andrew Collinge • Rebecca Stradling from Molbys • Marc Hensman from Mesart • Dana Hoek from Regis • Claire Thorpe from Scots • Megan Nicholls from Inkfish • Jasmin Dewar from Muse • Adam West from Forresters • Lesley Farrell from F&M.
We’ve got a full gallery of the team’s looks below.

News added 24/05/18: Applications are open for TIGI Inspirational Youth 2018…
Now in its 14thyear, TIGI Inspirational Youth is a mentorship programme taking young hairdressers on a life-changing voyage to develop creativity and talent. Many former team members have gone on to be very successful in the global hairdressing industry, recognised and respected by their peers.
Anthony Mascolo, who founded TIGI Inspirational Youth, knows the support he received from his brothers played a crucial part in his future success. In turn, he wanted to give opportunity to talented young hairdressers and help them on their career journey which is why he launched the programme.
10 young hairdressers selected from salons across the UK undergo the Inspirational Youth Bootcamp at Bed Head Studio in London. During their week, the IYT (Inspirational Youth Team) is mentored by the senior TIGI International creative team, led by TIGI European creative director, Akos Bodi, TIGI European session director, Maria Kovacs and TIGI Global academy technical director, Warren Boodaghians.
The Bootcamp includes intense training in classic and advanced cut and colouring, session styling, future fashion forecasting, presentation skills and, always the highlight of the week, a model casting and photo shoot. Shot at Bed Head Studio by TIGI in-house photographer, Alex Barron-Hough, with fashion stylist JIV D, the photographic collection is sent to UK trade magazines and shared on social media.
Following the TIGI Inspirational Youth Bootcamp, the Team participates in an exclusive show in November at London’s Café de Paris. It’s a fantastic experience and opportunity for any young hairdresser!
