The One For Afro Finalists

Tribu-te’s Big One Trophy is less than two weeks away, and Avlon are excited to see who will be taking home the title in their category – The One for Afro. To find out about the event click HERE.

Judging the entries on Avlon’s behalf was Jacqui McIntosh, Education Director. We caught up with Jacqui to find out what she likes to see in a competition entry.

Jacqui McIntosh

What do you like to see in a collection?

I like to understand the concept behind the image presented along with an understanding of the design and execution within a collection

What is your favourite aesthetic and what do you find impressive in creative work??

Aesthetics for me is about movement and clean design lines. What I find impressive in creative work is keeping the hair in its true form, centred around, Interpretation, conception and movement.

What would you say about the standard of work in the competition?

The standard of work was extremely high. It was a privilege to judge such an exciting collection of work where boundaries were pushed to the extreme. Observing the combination of artistic impressions broken down through design lines, contours and lighting being utilised in such a creative manner was breath taking.

The Big One

We will be finding out the winners of all eight categories on Monday 15th November at a brand new hair concept show in London. Hair Pieces is an immersive, walk-through show with artistic hairdressers/hair teams who work in their own space and the audience moves through the venue to see each in turn. Everyone will end up in the Great Hall ready for the awards ceremony and a finale show of models, finishing up with a drinks party – woohoo!

There are still some tickets available – BUY HERE
