The expert’s guide to festival-ready hair with UNITE

Festival season is right around the corner and thankfully team UNITE has put together a hair guide that doesn’t miss a beat. Scroll down for the ultimate festival hair inspo, expert styling tips, and the haircare headliners that will keep your clients’ hair looking flawless from day one to the last set.

Slicked back bob

Withstand the long hours of heat and dancing with the ultimate cool-girl staple: a blunt sleek bob.

To get the look, pro stylist Shenise Sheena says two products are key: 7SECONDS Detangler for moisture and 7SECONDS Glossing Spray for shine and to control frizz. “I section the hair and layer in these products to create a sleek wet look,” says Shenise.

Hair twists and bows

Hair twists and bows

Whether tied into braids, ponytails, or half-up styles, bows add a playful touch.

To get this sleek look with twisted sections, pro stylist Akiko Russell recommends prepping the hair with BOOSTA Thickening Creme and 7SECONDS BlowOut Creme to add volume and softness to the hair and blow dry. “When creating the twisted braid, apply SMOOTH&SHINE Styling Creme to your fingertips, and braid the hair, then add more product to the ends to enhance shine and movement,” explains Akiko.

Wet waves

Wet waves

Wet waves are the ultimate festival hairstyle, giving off a cool, effortless vibe while keeping hair sleek and frizz-free in the heat.

To get the look, pro stylist Chris Martin prepped the hair with SILKY:SMOOTH Heat Activator for thermal protection, then curled the hair with a 1” iron. To achieve a ‘wet-looking’ finish with high shine, he applied a healthy dose of ELEVATE Mousse and U Oil and gently raked through roots to ends.

Sculptured half up

Sculpted half up

If you want to experiment with a style that you wouldn’t do everyday, try this chic and artistic half up hairstyle that incorporates curls, swirls, and gentle bends in the hair.

To get the look, pro stylist Alex Thao prepped the hair with 7SECONDS Detangler and BOOSTA Volumizing Spray to add moisture and volume before blow drying. Once the hair is dry, use 7SECONDS Glossing Spray for thermal protection, then curl using a 1.5” iron. Finish with BOOSTA Finishing Spray for all-day hold, plus extra volume and shine.

Embellished braids

Braids are ideal if your client is worried about wind, frizz and tangles. Here’s a step by step guide on how to achieve the look courtesy of pro stylist Abreanna Corrales:

  1. Start with brushing 7SECONDS Detangler throughout to create a tangle-free base
  2. Apply U Oil to the ends for a protective style and to seal dried ends
  3. Rub a little SECOND Day Finishing Cream between the palms to get control and smooth all the hair back into a mid ponytail
  4. Braid the hair tight ensuring flyaways stay secured and tucked into the braid for a clean look
  5. After securing the braid, spray a healthy dose of Le:Play Hairspray and add the accessories of your choice
