Style of the season: Texan hair

Fudge Professional

Texan hair is back with a bang and has taken over as the biggest (quite literally) trending hairstyle of 2024. We saw it sashay onto the red carpets at the start of the year – and its set to keep stomping in style.

It’s all about drama, volume, and unapologetic glam—just ask Beyoncé, Hannah Waddingham, Jennifer Lopez, and Sabrina Carpenter, whose stylists have mastered the art of the voluminous blowout.

As we ride into party season, Texan hair is the perfect way to transform your look from simple to sensational. With just a few key products, you can achieve that bold, bouncy style from the comfort of your own home. Expect this trend to kick up its heels and stay a head above the rest. It’s time to grab your cowboy boots and big hair, because Texan style is here to stay!

Jonathan Andrew

Celebrity stylist and Fudge Global Ambassador, Jonathan Andrew, says: “I’ve been obsessed with this look ever since Miley Cyrus debuted it at the Grammys—it totally blew me away! This trend was first debuted in the 1980s and was a signature look of the iconic TV show Dallas. I’ve always loved working with big, glamorous blowouts, so I’m thrilled to see this look come back in full force.”

Here’s Jonathan’s step-by-step guide to creating your own Texan-inspired blowout, complete with the essential products to take your hair from bland to blow-out bombshell:

All bases covered

Begin by washing your hair with a hardworking shampoo and conditioner. Jonathan recommends Fudge Professional Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Shampoo and Conditioner, £15.50 each. It not only keeps brassiness at bay but also gives you a strong, fresh base to build upon.

Amplify the Volume

For that signature Texan lift, apply Fudge Professional Xpander Foam to the roots. This foam boosts volume right where it’s needed and gives hair added body. Blow-dry your hair upside down to encourage maximum root lift, then use a large round brush to smooth and create even more volume as you dry. Use Fudge Professional Xpander Foam, £16.00.

Texan Tease for Extra Height

Once fully dry, use a fine-tooth comb to gently tease the crown area. Lift small sections of hair and backcomb toward the roots to create extra height. Then, smooth the top layer of hair for a polished finish. Set it with Fudge Professional Skyscraper Extra Hold Hairspray, £12, for a firm hold that doesn’t feel stiff or crunchy.

Add Bouncy Curls

For those signature Dallas curls, use a large-barrel curling iron to create soft, loose waves. This adds movement and bounce to your look. Want even more curl definition? Try rolling and pin-curling sections of your hair, letting them cool before releasing for extra body and staying power.

Finishing Touch

To lock in your look, finish with Fudge Professional Hed Shine Spray, £13.00.This adds high-gloss shine without weighing down the volume, leaving you with that gorgeous Texan bounce and shine.

Jonathan adds: ‘Remember, the key to Texan hair is all about going big! So don’t be afraid to amp up the volume, embrace the drama, and channel your inner diva with every strand.’
