Celebrity stylist Stephen Beaver and luxury French jewellery brand Van Cleef & Arpels is a collaboration we didn’t know we needed, until it happened. Last November, at the jewellery brand’s gala dinner and model show, Stephen created captivating hairstyles using Authentic Beauty Concept. Known for his creativity and attention to detail, Stephen drew inspiration from Shakespeare’s young Ophelia and the pre-Raphaelites, creating looks that exuded innocence and artistry.
Stephen Beaver looks
Intrigued? Well, so are we. The gala dinner was held at the prestigious Old Royal Naval College in London. We hear it was an evening of haute couture, breathtaking jewellery and hair artistry. It may come as no surprise that the focal point of the evening was Stephen’s hairstyles. So, we thought we’d take a closer look:
Ophelia look
“For this ethereal look, the midde part of the hair was sectioned, and three sections were braided through the back of the head,” says Stephen. “Authentic Beauty Concept’s Amplify Mousse and Flawless Primer were used for control, setting, and heat protection. The braids were ironed, untied, and gently brushed to achieve a flawless result. The finishing touch involved using Hydrate Smoothing Serum for added shine and gloss.”
Chignon look
“The Chignon look featured a centre parting and smooth, weightless hair achieved with Hydrate Lotion and a flat iron. Using Amplify Mousse and Enhancing Water, a low ponytail was created and twisted around the base to form an elegant chignon. Working Hairspray was used to secure the style, creating a glossy shine while maintaining the pristine shape.” Stephen Beaver
What Stephen loves
Stephen says he was super-impressed with Authentic Beauty Concept and shares his favourite products. These include Flawless Primer, valued for heat protection and nourishing effects; Amplify Mousse, Stephen’s go-to mousse, a versatile choice appreciated for its softness; Airy Texture Spray, which adds moveable, subtle texture without gritty or stiff sensations; and Working Hairspray, providing a soft, fashion-forward hold with shine.
Stephen says, “What’s even better is that the more you apply, the better the result. It brushes out easily, leaving the hair with an elegantly textured feel that remains workable for days.”
Van Cleef & Arpels
Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in Paris in 1896 and is renowned for timeless elegance. The gala dinner featured an enchanting display of its masterpieces and a unique collaboration with the Royal Ballet. Principal character artist Kristen McNally choreographed a mesmerising performance. She says: “Each ballerina wore a brooch inspired by a ballet, bringing the jewellery to life in a dance of elegance and grace.” It seems there was much to see and admire.
