Shatush your hair

Move over balayage, it’s time to make way for a new colour technique – Shatush. That’s right, there’s a new freehand lightening technique in town. Well actually it’s not new, but it’s super on trend right now! Domenico Casella, from Neville Hair & Beauty has blown us away with his most recent bronde Shatush, featuring a face-frame using trusted Philip Martin’s colour. The technique offers a sun-kissed look with extremely soft and subtle highlights. It’s the perfect technique to add dimension to your client’s hair without dramatically changing the colour.

From what we’ve seen so far, Philip Martin’s is a brand that oozes classiness, and Domenico’s high-class Shatush technique aligns perfectly with their ethos. Minimal maintenance colours are in their prime right now, so we’re pretty sure this technique isn’t going anywhere soon. Imagine a subtly sun-kissed hue that grows out seamlessly – clients will love it!

How to Shatush

Domenico Casella, Senior Colourist at Neville Hair & Beauty brought the technique over from Italy and uses just his fingertips and a cone to create the dynamic colour. The cone is used to achieve a gradient effect. The hair closer to the cone is darker and more blended, whereas hair that surrounds the face is brighter and lighter in colour.

Domenico says “This technique is better suited to someone who is really looking for a natural effect, less fuss and less regrowth.”

By using the cone Domenico is able to create a balayage effect – just a lot more natural. This colour technique is extremely visual and the UK industry hasn’t seen anything quite like it yet.
