TA DAH! A tidy posse of barbers gathered in London this week, upping the grooming-ante considerably in our opinion as we surveyed a good-looking crowd attending the final of American Crew’s All-Star Challenge 2019. Yep, the screening room in a cool Hoxton hotel resembled a gentleman’s club for the evening, with the likes of You Tuber Robin James (Man For Himself) and Lee Kynaston (Telegraph Men grooming expert) keen to see the winners announced. Bravo to Gemma Willock-Smith at Frequency Barber who scooped the UK All-Star Challenge title with this look (above) and Chris O’Riordan (left) at St4men who won for Ireland.
We’re thrilled for the pair who now go forward to a grand final in New York in May.

The All-Star Challenge annual competition recognises the best men’s hairstylist in the world. The cut. The model. The photograph. Brought together to create the ultimate interpretation of the American Crew man.
To enter, stylists and barbers had to cut and style a male model using American Crew products and take two black and white pictures of the model from chest-level and above (one face-on, one side profile) in front of a blank background, with no props visible.
There will be a UK and Ireland final held on 18th March 2018 with finalists from the UK and Ireland at The Curtain in Shoreditch. From this, the winners will go through to the international stage of the competition, with 15 finalists chosen to compete in the Global 2019 American Crew All-Star Challenge final held in New York in May 2019.
This is a special year as American Crew celebrates 25 years as the professional leader in men’s grooming. The Global winner will receive the coveted title, international recognition and a $10,000 cash prize.
