Live beautifully

John Paul Mitchell Systems have been dedicated to making the world a better place since they launched in 1980. With a long history of giving back to the planet (read more here) from planting trees, to protecting animals and to preserving resources; Paul Mitchell is a brand dedicated to making the world a more beautiful place. They are a brand who pride themselves on being eco-conscious and environmentally friendly as they continually search for sustainable ingredients and work toward adopting the most current green practices in packaging and supply chain.

Cruelty free

Paul Mitchell has been protecting our furry friends for over 40 years. In 1980 they became the first professional beauty brand to announce that they do not conduct or endorse testing animals. And, let’s be honest, it’s cruel and unneccessary, which is why Paul Mitchell’s products are tested on humans.

Look out for logos

The pioneer logo will soon be featured on all of Paul Mitchell products to emphasise and highlight their dedication.

The brand has supported PETA’s efforts to end animal testing for many years. In 1989, they became the first hair care company to publicly oppose animal testing when signing PETA’s statement of assurance, pledging never to test its products on animals.

In 2017, Paul Mitchell successfully gained acceptance to market select products in China — without animal testing! After forming a dedicated team, creating relationships with experts and educators, and partnering with a U.S.-based testing facility, Paul Mitchell are now able to service hairstylists and guests in China while maintaining their core corporate value of zero animal testing.

Vegan

Finding great vegan products can be challenging. That’s why Paul Mitchell have made it easier for you to choose from their wide selection of vegan products – from permanent colour products like the color XG, to our demi-permanent The Demi and balayage favourites like Skylight.

All Paul Mitchell Professional hair colour products are not tested on animals and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. Instead, we use plant-based ingredients that are great for your hair – like cottonseed oil, rice protein and sunflower extract – or synthetic ingredients instead.
