News added 14/05/18: More and more clients are clocking on to the health of their scalp, and the knock-on effect this has on the health of their hair. Ahead of the pack, Oribe’s new Serene Scalp range has been making waves as one of the first luxury brands to react to this new market awareness. We caught up with Michele Burgess, Oribe’s director of product development, to find out why she the Oribe team created the range:
• Do you think clients are aware of the health of their scalp?
Consumers are becoming more savvy and educated about formulas, ingredients and their beauty products in general. Now more than ever, people are aware that a healthy scalp is imperative to having healthy hair.
• What made you want to launch a scalp collection?
We felt there was a need for luxury scalp products in the marketplace. Although scalp brands have been around for a while, consumers can sometimes be embarrassed a these products often carry a stigma. Oribe took the issue of scalp health and launched luxury products in a sophisticated, chic way to give consumers a beautiful package with high-performing formulas that they are proud to own.
• So what’s the difference?
Our Serene Scalp family focuses on balancing and soothing the scalp. Salicylic acid is one of the main ingredients in the shampoo and treatment. It works by gently exfoliating the scalp while removing loose dandruff flakes. All of the formulas contain Caffeine, which energizes the scalp and rejuvenates hair follicles. The treatment contains a blend of peppermint oil and peppermint leaf extract to instantly soothe the scalp. Our formulas focus on scalp health in order to create the optimal environment for healthy hair.
• Can it be used even if you don’t have a sensitive scalp?
It is important to gently exfoliate the scalp to remove dirt, oil, product build-up and impurities just like you would with the skin on your face. Using the Serene Scalp Balancing Shampoo as a weekly treatment – even if you don’t typically have scalp issues – can help to eliminate this build-up and free pores in order to promote a healthier scalp and hair. The products are gentle enough to use as your every day routine. The treatment can be used as needed. It is a great on-the-go product to use if you are experiencing scalp discomfort regularly or at specific times like after a colour service in the salon.
