Hair bonding products have established a fan following in recent years, taking a step up from intensive treatment masks. But with this, there’s also a lot of misinformation circulating that may impact client expectations around the bonding products you use in your salon.
Uberliss Educator, Claire Chell provides some myth busting advice and shares her thoughts on how bonding products can be successfully retailed within the salon environment. “Our industry is constantly evolving and we are so lucky to have constant product innovations at our fingertips,” she says. “With the influx of bonding products within our sector it’s important to remember these basics.”
Mircale product?
“Bond building products are amazing but remember they are not miracle workers. If you feel the hair’s condition is too weak and excessively damaged then take a test cutting to assess the hair prior to any colour work,” insists Claire.
“If the results will cause more damage, then be confident and say no. No amount of bond builder product within your lightener or colour will save the hair. There’s nothing wrong in just saying ‘no’ and offering a bond building conditioning treatment plan instead to strengthen the hair first.”
A quick fix for split ends?
“Spilt ends can be temporarily sealed but this is not a long lasting effect. The only way to banish those ends is a good haircut. A haircut and a good home routine that includes a bond builder will help to add strength to the hair reducing future damage. The Uberliss Bond System features sub-micron technology to penetrate quickly and deep into the hair to support improved elasticity and condition of the hair overall.”
In-salon V at home bonding treatments?
“Every brand of bond building system has a professional element – to be used by hairdressers. This step always has the most concentrated strength of ingredients. When used first as an in-salon service the hair has been enriched and restored to its height allowing the home care building products to have a perfect foundation to build and regenerate on.
“Uberliss’ Bond Regenerator (Step One) uses Patented Bond Technology that contains Glycidoxy. A reactive silicone that seeks out damaged disulphide bonds and repairs them. Including this Glycidoxy formula, ensures maximum repair and protection through every step of your service.”
Retail Top Tips
“Knowledge is power! Your clients are your salon’s walking billboards and your greatest adverts. Sharing all your knowledge with them not only allows them to maintain and manage their hair at home but also gives them the confidence to share their knowledge with others.
“I always build homecare into my clients’ consultations and quote at the beginning of the service, so they know exactly how much the total of their appointment will be with additional products for haircare in between services. Something like the Uberliss Bond Healing Spray is a great retail product. It’s simple to use and fits easily into at home hair routines.”
