It’ true. Ask any blonde. There’s more than one way to go blonde – from a subtle lived-in balayage to icey platinum. Paul Mitchell Professional Hair Color artists have created a guide of blonding techniques to inspire both you and your clients.
Kiss of blonde
“Create a whisper of blonde to compliment your client’s natural base,” says Heather Ka’anoi who created this gorgeous sun-kissed look. The glistening hints of gold are what the kiss of blonde is all about.Using both babylights and slices to lift the hair, Heather then finished with a toner to neutralise any orangey tones.
Golden Girl
A beautiful lived-in balayage created by Colin Caruso. What is ‘Golden Girl’? “It looks like her hair has been on vacation and is naturally sunkissed,” explains Colin. To create this blonde Colin used a combination of babylights, teasey-lights and slices. The hybrid use of techniques is what allows the colour to look salon fresh yet lived-in both at the same time.
Platinum Perfection
Keeping things cool, Lucas Doney created this perfectly toned icey platinum colour. To create this colour Lucas bleached the hair all over, starting from mid-lengths to ends and the roots last. Then to create the perfect cool-tone he pre-toned the hair to remove any harsh brassiness followed by ash toners to create the icey look.
