Friday in February

While watching the digital shows and presentations from London Fashion Week autumn/winter 21 the past five days we were delighted to see hair being more cared for than before, as an important and complementary part of a fashion collection. But one presentation that got us a bit emotional was the fashion designer Roksanda autumn/winter 2021 video.

The short film titled ‘Friday in February’ celebrated Vanessa Redgrave, Joely Richardson and Daisy Bevan bringing the themes of family and the human touch to life in a highly intimate, poetic and moving portrayal following three generations of incredible women. The grandmother-mother-daughter trio were filmed against the backdrop of their countryside home during lockdown over the course of one day in February.

Shot entirely using an iPhone with the talent truly bringing to life the best of WFH hair using L’Oréal Professionnel TECNI.ART products, embracing their natural textures with an effortless styled look, allowing the dynamic collection to speak for itself. The result is a beautiful work focused on individuality and naturality.

The collection is richly diverse in structure and colour palette and celebrates a vitality and optimism that is replicated throughout this season’s key shapes and silhouettes. And – trust us – listening to Vanessa Redgrave uniquely recite Shakespeare’s Sonnet 73 while gazing out the window of her daughter’s home as her granddaughter Daisy brings the winter garden back to life is probably the best thing you you’ll hear today.

“ There are small moments in life that are so precious and so important. It was about capturing those everyday moments that are very simple but very often go unnoticed,” the designer says as we see Joely and Daisy holding hands, and the dappled light shining softly on Vanessa’s face. ”I have to remember those moments and to acknowledge them, and above all to enjoy them. I’m just trying to find a way of bringing a certain positivity, passion, and beauty to the world.”
