Earth Day with Jo Gilder

It’s certainly not news to us that KEVIN.MURPHY has been making a huge impact on protecting the environment for a number of years now.

In light with Earth day, we hooked up with Jo Gilder, owner of Gilded Hair and a KEVIN.MUPRHY salon. Jo has a personal mission in life to be kind to the environment and people around her and do what she can to lower carbon foot print. In the hair world this can be challenging but Jo has found a pretty good way so far.

Gilded Hair opened in 2014, and from the very beginning Jo had a passion to be an eco-friendly salon. It started with recycling wherever possible and then was the switch to biodegradable towels (saving money and resources), and then 6 years ago, Jo discovered KEVIN.MURPHY.

Just before they launched in the UK, Jo was drawn to the brand by not only the catchy tagline ‘skincare for hair’ but because of their love for the planet. The rest was history and Jo has been on an exciting journey with KEVIN.MURPHY ever since.

Why Kevin.Murphy?

“I love the brand values and being a low carbon company sold it for me. The way the bottles are recyclable and made from recycled plastics, as well as the way they are shaped in order to fit more product in. Working with a company who puts their profits towards helping charities who focus on environmental issues close to my heart was a deciding factor.” says Jo Gilder

Jo’s planet passion flows through and through the Gilded Hair brand. Other ways she is making the salon more sustainable include:

  • Free from single use plastics
  • Biodegradale PPE
  • Part of the Green Salon Collective
  • Gleco Traps installed at the basins
