Katya

We’re back with another step-by-step from Anthony Mascolo’s Calligraphy Cut collection. Let’s take a look at how Anthony created this heavily layered cut on Katya.

  1. Katya before

2. To start the cut, take a horseshoe section at the high point of the recession area to isolate the top from the underneath.

3. Take a vertical section at the centre back, comb the hair to 90° cut from the top downwards to create the layering guide at a 45° elevation.

4. To maintain softness around the perimeter carve from shorter internally to slightly longer towards the hairline.

5. Behind the ear start increasing the perimeter length to maintain the length through the sides.

6. Note the change of hand position and repeat the same technique on the opposite side.

7. Now release the top section and apply the Calligraphy hydro spray to prepare for cutting. At the front take a horizontal section across the top.

8. Comb the hair slightly forwards and starting at the left-hand side create a long sweeping fringe by carving the section at a low elevation.

9. Now take a central vertical section within the remaining top section. Comb the hair to 90° and layer the fringe working at a 45° elevation.

10. Continue pivoting towards the back and use the guide from the centre.

11. When the centre back is reached towards the front on the other side to complete the layering at the top.

12.  After power drying the hair, apply the Calligraphy Sealing Serum to damp hair to finish the look.

Looking good Katya!
