As part of Kao’s sustainability mission they are proud to announce a new partnership with hair colour management software – Vish – to work on minimising colour wastage in salons. Kao are now encouraging all their salons to use the Vish technology to monitor and reduce how much colour they dispense and waste.
Research suggests that UK salons waste almost 30% of colour through over-mixing. The excess colour is then over-applied to hair, rinsed down the sink or sent to landfill – either way a negative impact on the environment. Following a successful trial of Vish software in 10 Kao salons across the UK, the partnership will help Kao focus on their sustainability goals.
“2020 was a challenging year with the entire organisation adapting to the myriad of changes triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Stephanie Bruce, Director of Education, Salon, EMEA, at Kao Corporation, which has been recognised internationally as one of the world’s most ethical companies. “However, this did not hinder but rather accelerated our commitment to Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance. As an industry, we need to seek ways to reduce any negative impact our actions have on the planet. Partnering with Vish will help our salons continue to produce beautiful, creative colour while reducing waste and costs. That must be good for everyone.”
