Is your salon ready for the festive season? Your to-do lis is probably looking a little like: decorate the shopfront, stocking up on seasonal gifts and creating bespoke experiences. Luckily for us, Unite Hair shares five tips to help get you festive-ready for the most profitable season of the year. Remember, many clients will be getting into the Christmas spirit themselves. They’ll want to see cheer everywhere they go, so ensure your salon experience lives up to this.
Tips for the festive season

1. Decorate for the season
Unite says decorating for the season is super important! You should create a festive ambience for clients to enjoy…plus you and your staff. This will also invite off-street visitors to peruse your gift selections. If you’re tight for space, use above eye level for your seasonal props. Think about hanging holly or Christmas wreaths.
2. Consider your seasonal stock package
Plan your visual merchandising and create extra areas to display products in volume. This indicates best-sellers and helps clients choose great gifts. Group complementary products together to create additional gift ideas. Holiday gift sets are always super popular, so ensure you have some on offer.
Also, have your team ready with seasonal ‘phrases that pay’ such as “How’s your Christmas shopping going?” and “Who do you need to buy for?” It’s up to you and your staff to help clients. Now’s the time to be encouraging and informative.

3. Offer holiday treats
Consider including complimentary festive treats like hot chocolate, mince pies or holiday-themed cookies. Who doesn’t love a Christmas mince pie, especially on a chilly Winter’s day?
4. Extend operating hours
The holiday season can be busy, and clients may have more limited availability. Consider extending your salon’s operating hours during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Create urgency with appointments by announcing to clients, “Christmas bookings are open!”. This will help anyone with a tight schedule and a long to-do list.

5. Nail your marketing
Use social media like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (don’t forget e-campaigns are very effective) to promote your business over the festive season. Unite lists a few ideas for the conversation:
- Extra opening hours
 - Seasonal styles
 - Don’t miss out on your appointment, book now
 - Great gifts
 - Party hair ideas
 - Treat yourself
 - Come and join us for some Christmas cheer
