Celebrating Igora Royal

Remember some months back when we told you all about the Igora Royal Restage? Well we finally got to celebrate it IRL!

Although Zoom was our best friend during the pandemic, it wasn’t quite good enough for the restage of Igora Royal. After several date changes and pushbacks (cheers Covid) we can certainly say it was a celebration worth waiting for…

The event was held at The Apartment within The Hoxton. The room had been rebranded for the day and it felt like we were very much at Schwarzkopf Professional’s House of Colour.

After a catch up with industry friends (and a few sips of champers) we were treated to a talk from The Hair Historian, learning all about the history of hair colour and how the desire to change our look and follow beauty trends is nothing new; from the Egyptian’s craving for cobalt blue hair to the Roman desire to go blonde by any means necessary. Next it was over to acclaimed colourist and Schwarzkopf Professional Global Brand Ambassador, Lesley Jennison, to share her wealth of colour knowledge and explain just why IGORA Royal is the most trusted and reliable colour on the market. Lesley also shared more about the brand’s restaging – including the new-look sustainable packaging – and the current collaboration with Pantone. Describing the partnership as a career highlight, Lesley provided fascinating insight into the creative process of working with the colour institute to create beautiful, trend-led colours using the IGORA range.

“I was delighted to join in celebrating IGORA with the Schwarzkopf Professional team. It’s a brand synonymous with excellent standards in hair colour and clearly so well loved and esteemed by the industry. The restage includes packaging and marketing tools to support the hairdresser as an expert in their field pointing to the Schwarzkopf motif of always putting the hairdresser first.” says Nicky Pope, publisher TRIBU-TE Magazine UK

During lunch we had the opportunity to chat to Lesley Jennison and the Schwarzkopf Pro team about col.our, creativity and what’s next. And then saving the best bit of info until last… It was announced that the entire event had been carbon offset. In keeping with the brand’s newly-launched sustainable packaging and the wider move towards a more conscious lifestyle, Schwarzkopf Professional worked in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects (with organizational help from Leaf Scissors) to fund planting of 250 trees per attendee – that’s 5,000 in total! These trees will absorb an incredible 240,000lbs of Carbon Dioxide every year, playing a huge part in offsetting all of our CO2 emissions – a fantastic end to a fantastic day!
