Great Lengths Partners With Green Salon Collective

Great Lengths continue their eco-friendly mission by proudly partnering with the Green Salon Collective; allowing salons and extensionists to provide a full sustainable and transparent service from start to finish.

Recycle > Reuse

Great Lengths have been working with the Little Princess Trust for some time now. They support the charity by donating long length hair extensions when clients are finished with them. By teaming up with the Green Salon Collective this provides a perfect solution for shorter extensions that are unsuitable for donation.

“Great Lengths is proud to partner with Green Salon Collective as part of our ongoing efforts to be the most sustainable hair extensions brand possible,” says Joscelin McCourt, CEO for Great Lengths UK and Ireland. “In addition to our salon partnership donating used hair extensions to the Little Princess Trust to create wigs for children with medical hair loss, the Green Salon Collective’s recycling scheme now creates the opportunity to safely and sustainably dispose of hair clippings which are unsuitable for use in wigs. It’s a fantastic step in our path to reducing waste and supporting an overall move to a green, more sustainable hairdressing industry.”

Green Salon Collective

The Green Salon Collective proudly recycles the unrecyclable. They transform waste from the hairdressing industry to create a more circular economy for salons. The donated hair is used in a variety of innovative ways such as making hair booms and hair mats. Cutting of hair – any length or colour – are tightly packed into cotton or nylon tubes. When these booms are placed in the sea and on shores they stop oil spreading, saving wildlife and the natural landscape. The hair mats are used to soak up oil in the water! This really is amazing!

Hair cuttings are also used for composting. As a protein, hair breaks down easily when composted, releasing nitrogen to feed and enrich plants.

We are over the moon to see Great Lengths offer an ethical and sustainable journey from start to finish.
