The HUB Network 2018

respect Goldwell

We love nothing more than mixing with hairdressing professionals – they are an inspirational and fun lot! And what better location for salon owners to come together to share ideas and be inspired by a dazzling line-up of business experts, than sunny Croatia. This was the destination for the 2018 KMS HUB Network event, an annual gathering held exclusively for KAO Salon Divisions Salon Business Networking Club members.
This year’s event took place in the breath-taking surroundings of Sun Gardens, Dubrovnik, a beautiful five-star resort and spa located on the glistening blue Adriatic coast. While business was the main focus, there was certainly plenty of opportunity for some pleasure in these lush surroundings. Guests enjoyed two days of inspirational presentations, expert speakers, business insight and networking, as well as an evening drinks reception on board a traditional Karaka sailing ship to watch the sunset and network in stunning surroundings.

Speakers, who ensured delegates remained motivated, inspired and entertained, included:
• Brand development expert, Penny Blake whose interactive session covered the importance of luxury execution, the art of storytelling, and significance of emotional intelligence
• Entrepreneur and author of The Beauty Bible, Josephine Fairley, who shared the many lessons learned along the path to business success including the emotional aspect of building a brand and then ‘letting go’ when it’s sold on
• Former London Hairdresser of the Year, and current president of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, Karine Jackson, who brought delegates up-to-date on everything Fellowship related
Claudia Antonia Merkle, an art historian, journalist, artist and gallery lecturer at Tate Modern and Tate Britain
• Chief executive of the National Hairdressers’ Federation, Hilary Hall who offered a whistle-stop tour of industry issues;
• Eimear McManus, founder of @DigitalWorksNow, a boutique digital marketing business based in London, who help small and medium-sized businesses grow their customer base through creative digital marketing practices
Keith Conniford, chief executive of the Hair Council, who shared his case for mandatory registration
• Co-founder of ClientWave Salon Performance Services, Carole Taylor, who presented extensive research and addressing feedback from over 3,000 real salon clients, to detail the Ultimate Client Journey.
• Rounding off this incredible line-up was author and motivational speaker, Joe Simpson, whose story of survival Touching the Void, is a modern-day classic.

Mark Giannandrea, general manager UK for KAO Salon Division comments: “We were incredibly proud to have twice as many guests join us this year in Dubrovnik following the huge success of the launch of the HUB Network event last year in Tenerife. I’m confident that the mix of amazing guest speakers gave our salons some really valuable takeaways to help them build their own brands further and help them achieve their ultimate business ambitions.”
