Style Squad 2018

The 2018 Style Squad graduates!

Each year, ghd selects a lucky group of young hairdressers to form their Style Squad; a group of emerging talent ready to take their skills to the next level.
Over the course of 12 months, the team enjoy education sessions, workshops and masterclasses, as well as joining ghd at major events across the country. We’re so jealous. But, listen closely, the style squad isn’t just about hairstyling skills. It teaches students about
the importance of social media, photography and presentation skills – leaving them fully equipped to take on the hairdressing industry with confidence.
This year’s squad were mentored by session stylist and ghd brand ambassador, Zoe Irwin and ghd’s education manager, Lorna Baker. What a power duo of expertise these two have between them!
Zoe set the team thought-provoking projects to encourage them to dig deep with their research and produce inspiring, boundary-pushing, creative work. Inspirations included Patti Smith, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Nike. The Style Squad celebrated their achievements with a graduation at the ghd studio sharing their finished work which ranged from wigs to self-styled portraits and full-blown photoshoots. It was a real wow!
ghd global education manager, Jo Robertson says: “We’re always so proud of the work created by our Style Squad and their achievements over the year. They go from strength to strength and it’s always a brilliant launchpad for their future careers.”
