Meet the ghd Style Squad 2019/20

Lauren ghd: always a good news story

Eight talented young hairstylists have been chosen to represent ghd as part of the Style Squad for 2019/20. This elite group of emerging names will now go on to enjoy a year of mentoring, education and opportunities as they represent the brand at events, seminars and shows across the country.

Getting creative

Each year, the ghd Style Squad is chosen from hundreds of applicants, with successful stylists chosen for their hairdressing skills, brand awareness and passion for the industry. Shortlisted applicants are invited to the ghd studio, where they must provide a ten-minute presentation of a model look representing their creative skills and personal tastes and eye for trends. This year, 20 finalists descended on the studio in May. After an hour’s prep, they presented their models to Lorna Baker, Education Manager for the UK and Ireland, and National Educator, Adam Wright.

Talentspotting

“Each year, the decision gets harder and harder,” says Lorna, “As more and more talented stylists enter. The selection process for this year’s elite squad was particularly challenging as we have chosen to make the team smaller, so they can receive even more dedicated education. Our chosen eight will now go on to join the ghd family and enjoy a year of mentoring and education from myself and ghd ambassador, Zoe Irwin.”

The new Style Squad’s year will commence in July, when the previous team hand over the reins at their graduation evening. They will enjoy two days of intensive brand training, before embarking on a year of creative and educational opportunities. Watch this space!
