Pashcan’el Mitchell is an award-winning hairstylist with over 10 years’ experience in the industry. As part of Avlon’s Art Team he explains the concept behind one of the looks from the brand’s recent ‘Freedom to be You‘ collection.
“This look was inspired by traditional styling used to protect Afro hair textures by mothers, sisters and aunties when preparing the hair for school. This type of style would help to keep the hair groomed until the next shampoo cleanse.
“Today, this look is encapsulated on the runway and we felt the style fit perfectly within our Freedom to be You collection. These styles were commonly rejected and deemed not presentable; however they are now widely accepted in mainstream society. This look sits with everything true to the foundation of Avlon’s belief in giving women of texture the freedom to express their hair their way.”
