We all know what winter means: frizz! Your clients must be going berserk with hair that’s hard to tame. Luckily, we’ve spoken to celebrity stylist M.J Snyder, who knows five products to combat frizz.
Frizz is one of the most frustrating issues for a client, caused by various factors; environmental elements, hair type, and haircare practices. Winter conditions often exacerbate frizz due to lower humidity and exposure to static electricity… how many of us are blasting the heaters?
Hair texture makes a huge difference. Clients with curly or wavy hair are more susceptible to frizz. These hair types are often drier and have more surface area, making it easier for moisture to escape. So, what are the go-to frizz fighters M.J recommends? Let’s find out:

Damaged Hair
Hair that is damaged, whether due to heat, styling, chemical treatments, or other factors, is more likely to frizz. Damaged hair has a compromised cuticle layer that cannot effectively retain moisture. To prevent and repair further damage, I recommend using the Unite 7SECONDS Masque, it’s a highly reparative hair treatment that helps strengthen the cuticle, restore shine and elasticity.
Static Electricity
In winter, the air tends to be drier, which can lead to static electricity. Static can make the hair strands repel each other, causing them to stand on end and appear frizzy. To combat static, consider using an anti-static hair product or a humidifying hair spray such as the Unite U:DRY Fresh Dry Conditioner between wash days to restore dry, thirsty hair. Great for all hair types.
Lack of Moisture
All hair types and textures need adequate moisture to remain smooth and frizz-free. Cold weather and central heating systems can dry out the hair, leading to frizz. Using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner like the Unite haircare products such as 7SECONDS Shampoo & Conditioner which can be used weekly to help keep your hair moisturised and healthy. Use 7SECONDS Detangler after washing for additional moisture and protein treatment.
