Earth month in April is fast-approaching, and Aveda offers two ways you can support its Earth Month campaign, helping to provide water for those in need. Read on to learn how to get involved and support the brand and its charity partner, Charity: water, in raising funds.
Aveda’s Earth Month campaign
This Earth Month, Aveda, the vegan haircare brand with a sustainability mission, is proud to support the nonprofit organisation Charity: water. The mission is simple: to provide clean water to people in need.
Here are two initiatives:
1)The power of every step
771 million people in the world live without clean water. Many live in isolated, rural areas where they must walk 3.7 miles daily to collect water for their family. Alongside Charity: water Aveda is running a project called Aveda Walks for Water. During Earth Week which is April 15 – April 22, 2023, Aveda will donate $40 to Charity: water for anyone who completes a 3.7-mile walk and posts on social media with the hashtag #AvedaWalksforWater.
Aveda chose $40 for this donation as it’s the average cost to bring clean water to someone in need long-term through the initiatives of Charity: water. If you like walking, this is the perfect opportunity to jump on board an excellent project. If you’re not a natural walker, this could be a great way to challenge yourself while supporting the charity.
2) Limited edition Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment
In a vibrant retail campaign, Aveda will sell its Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment in a limited-edition 125ml size with special-edition packaging for the Earth Month campaign. $10 from the sale of each limited-edition Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment will go toward funding clean water projects. Recommend for your clients who have had chemical or colour services and may need extra haircare. Aveda tells us Botanical Repair reduces breakage in just one use for instantly stronger hair while protecting against heat styling up to 232°C and the drying effects of the sun. Sounds ideal!
AND in a first for Aveda, the limited-edition Earth Month campaign product tube is made from 100% ocean-bound plastic, upholding the brand’s commitment to avoid or reduce the use of virgin plastic wherever possible.
Caring Aveda
Aveda tells us that since 1999, when it first launched its annual Earth Month campaign, the brand has raised more than $69 million for hundreds of global and local organisations. To date, Aveda’s efforts have helped provide clean water to more than 1.5 million people and helped protect thousands of local watersheds. Partnering with Charity: water, Aveda will focus on providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene during Earth Month and beyond. Having easy access to clean water allows families to remain healthy while focusing on other essential aspects of life, like education and earning an income. Most of us take easy access to clean drinking water for granted; use Earth month as a time to focus on ways you can help those less fortunate.
Aveda’s brand mission
Following the brand’s mission, Aveda has pioneered new benchmarks of environmental responsibility. They prioritise the following six areas: safe beauty; sourcing responsibility; packaging responsibility; Leaping Bunny Approved, vegan formulas; responsible manufacturing; and helping to protect and provide clean water to people in need in Aveda’s sourcing communities and communities around the globe.
In January 2023, Aveda Corporation announced its milestone of achieving B Corp Certification. Meeting verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
