When it comes to inspiration, the TIGI International Creative Team always get it right. So it’s no surprises that when they took to the stage at the TIGI European Convention, we were blown away by their Designer Collection. An inspirational display of the modern “zeitgeist” fashion, expressed through hair, make-up and ultimately the style of TIGI, depicted a totally colourful future. The creative collection was a strong and diverse lineup of 8 looks giving the audience both a visually stunning, and thought-provoking experience. Bring it on!
Bed Head DNA
The collection was a match-made-in-heaven with the rebellious nature of Bed Head DNA. So we went backstage to find out how International Creative Team used Bed Head to create the stand out looks…
This theme (right) saw TIGI European Creative Director Akos Bodi, pay homage to punk and graffiti influences, modern rebellion and Rage Against the Machine being the inspiration behind the look. It was about bold, disruptive with textured hair with graffiti slogans decorating the stand-out outfi. The hair was blow dried straight and styled with Manipulator Matte to achieve a disruptive look, finished off with Masterpiece for flexible hold and shine.
Eclectic fearless exuberance was the inspiration for this look (left). Keeping in line with TIGI’S rebellious and bold history, the model wore a statement-studded mask to complement the theme. Akos Bodi prepped the messy hair-up look using Superstar Queen for a Day to create volume. Manipulator Matte was then applied to separate the hair and add grip, before it was finished with Hard Head for strong hold.
‘Romance meets gothic fairytale’ (right) was the inspiration for this look, perfectly pairing romantic gel plaits with biker chic styling. The sleek gel plaits were prepped using Control Freak for optimum shine, and finished with Hard Head for all-night-long styling longevity.
The Manga theme (left) saw TIGI pay homage to films: ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Ghost in a Shell’ as well as iconic Manga movies, brought to life with an abundance of intensely radiant colours and an asymmetrical cut. To achieve the textured choppy look, the hair was prepped with Small Talk to amplify volume and build body, and finished with Head Rush for an all over shine.
For the Poetic Dreamer look (right), inspiration was drawn from the Parisian movie ‘The Dreamers’, looking at rebellious activists’ style, combined with effortlessly on-trend styling. No TIGI night would be complete without a short choppy bob! The look was created using Superstar Queen for a Day for a thicker and fuller look, finished with Head Rush for enhanced shine, and Hard Head for long lasting hold.
