We are delighted to hear of The Fellowship for British Hairdressing‘s latest education initiative – Project Afro! And who better to lead the new programme than Avlon’s European Education Director, Jacqui McIntosh.
For 2023, Project Afro will open up the vision of afro hairdressing and take the delegates on a journey into the world of Afro hair. With a keen focus on British Afro hairdressing, hairdressers will have the opportunity to learn about the trailblazers and icons that have pathed the way; helping them gain in depth knowledge of the sector and deeper understanding of the skill set required.
The course is for anyone wishing to broaden their current technical skill portfolio and can expect a project that is full of knowledge, creativity, and detail round Afro hairdressing.
What will Project Afro cover?
- Global hair classification and its impact to the salon floor
- Landscape of Afro hairdressing – natural, chemical and thermal styling
- Mentor demonstrations from industries hidden gems who have an arsenal of knowledge and technical skills to share
- Guest talks from award winning industry trail blazers
- Final presentation by you supported by your mentors
On her appointment, Jacqui said: “It is an absolute honour to be asked to lead on Project Afro for The Fellowship for British Hairdressing. The Afro hair sector here in the UK has its own creativity and vibe, and its own foundational concept which is so eclectic in comparison to anywhere else in the world.
“This course is for anyone who has the desire to understand and learn he complexities of textured hair, no matter what previous experience they have. I’m really looking forward to meeting the delegates as we start this journey.”
