You may remember us telling you about ACLT’s most recent campaign – Bonded by Blood. We are over the moon to hear how successful the special blood donation clinics were.
The blood donation sessions were supported by Avlon and took place across three consecutive weekends in September and October across London, Bristol, Birmingham, and Manchester. Despite the fuel crisis, bad weather and the start of cold & flu season the turn out was incredible.
- 1,542 people booked a blood donation appointments because of the Bonded By Blood – A Mothers Story campaign
- 820 people booked a Bonded by blood appointment
- A further 722 have booked a Bonded by Blood, blood donation appointment at alternative venues and on alternative dates – is a huge bonus!
- 77% were new donors
- Of those who successfully donated, 62%were black donors
- ACLT also registered 133 new black potential stem cell donors to the British Bone Marrow Registry at the special Bonded by Blood sessions. As a bonus during the campaign period, NHS Blood & Transplant had more than 53 new black potential stem cell donors registering each week, which is way more than they would usually see
Each person who donated during the sessions received a goodie bag of Avlon products – we hear these went down a treat!
